Spirit of Ramzan through fasting and feasting

    Ramzan or Ramadan is a period of love, gratitude, forgiveness through fasting and prayer.

    The Iftar feasts and gatherings at the end of each days fasting are as important as the fasting. The traditional fast is broken by consuming dates. For foodies around the world though Ramzan is the time to get our meat cravings satiated.     

        Let’s look at some of the popular spots in South Indian cities for Ramzan treats. Bangalore is truly a paradise for meat lovers during Ramzan. The areas of Frazer Town, Shivaji Nagar, Johnson market and Koramangala are some of the popular spots.

    The large pots of haleem, keema samosa, and the heady aroma of chicken and mutton kebabs are a delight. The Empire and Imperial restaurants that have multiple branches in the city are ideal for family dining.


Hyderabad
    The city of hyderabad is perhaps the best place for meaty Ramzan treats. The Hyderabadi Biryani with their signature mirchi ka salaan at Hotel Shadab in Charminar along with it mutton paya is worth a visit. The haleem and the char koni naan at Hotel Nayaab also in Charminar is a must try.

        The haleem at Shah Ghouse in Charminar is considered the best in Hyderabad. So don’t miss out on this specialty there. The sweet tooth cravings can be satiated at the pista house. The Shahi Tukda and double meetha are to die for.

    Chennai city has a few gems and their iftar boxes are ideal given the pandemic and the need for social distancing. These are available at Zaitoon, Al souk Nungambakkam and Abids in Chetpet  Buhari is the legendary restaurant famed for its mutton biryani, keema samosa and falooda and has several branches dotted across the city.

    A word of caution is needed though in these times of uncertainty. It is important to keep our loved ones safe and a good option would be to order in or maybe use the opportunity to stay home and prepare home cooked meals this Ramzan.
